ASDSA will continue to work with members of Congress who would like to host a free skin cancer screening during in-district health fairs or other events. By partnering with Neutrogena, ASDS/A is able to promote the Choose Skin Health program; members have been able to hold more than 21,000 skin cancer screenings since the program’s inception in 2010. As skin cancer rates rise, Choose Skin Health is an increasingly important program. One in ten people that are screened are diagnosed with skin cancer.
Members who volunteer receive materials including Neutrogena sunscreen samples, patient education brochures and marketing materials. ASDS also provides a handbook with screening guidelines, tips for successful screenings and FAQs. Doctor names and screening information are listed in a public database, allowing patients nationwide to locate a nearby member offering screenings.
